How to Order Sets, page 3

For the next wound string measurement in the bass section:

Measure the highest unichord string in the bass section and enter into the designated boxes on Order Form Page 2.

For most pianos you will measure only two more strings (lowest bichord and highest bichord).

If trichord strings are present, you will measure two additional strings.

NOTE: If wound strings are present in the tenor section measure each string individually and enter dimensions on the Tenor Form.

Next, you will need the following:

  • carbon paper
  • fax paper

Make paper rubbings of the hitch pin/bridge pin area, and also the agraffe/tuning pin area using white fax or banner paper.

One rubbing will highlight agraffes, tuning pins and strings.
The other rubbing will highlight hitch pins, bridge pins and strings.
The objective is to get an actual size image of these two areas.
Fax paper is usually wide enough for most small to medium pianos.
Banner paper which is available from office supply superstores can be used when wider paper is needed.
